On behalf of the Clarkston Education Foundation (CEF), we would like to thank the people who helped make the Lincoln Middle School (LMS) 2010 Career Fair a huge success once again! More than 79 businesses shared their career paths with the 600 middle school students from Clarkston, Asotin and Pomeroy. Thank you to the students who wore professional attire and practiced proper interview techniques.

This event is made possible with the help of WSU GEAR UP-Pat Sobotta and crew, Lincoln Middle School staff and parents, Alesia Ruchert-Director of Garfield County SEWEDA, Blue Ribbon Linen Supply, Clarkston High School Honor Society and Lincoln Middle School Web Leaders. This year's collaboration allowed students from other school districts to attend as well as new businesses to participate in this educational event.

We want all students to experience success after high school! Career planning is one way to begin! Thank you again to our generous community of volunteers. We'll see you next year on January 24-25, 2011!

Lincoln Middle School Career Fair - January 28-29, 2008

Over 70 businesses and colleges attended our 3rd Annual Career Fair at Lincoln Middle School(LMS) in Clarkston, WA. Each morning on January 28 and 29, over 440 students walked through the gym and selected four businesses/professions to interview. They asked questions about their schooling, classes taken in high school/college, salary ranges, typical day in the life, dress code for work, etc. It was a fabulous experience for our young middle schoolers, half of which will be registering for high school the end of February.

The Clarkston Education Foundation (CEF), WSU Gear Up, and Lincoln Middle School would like to thank the 120+ presenters who shared their personal experiences with the Clarkston students. A wide range of career choices were available to students including: police/sheriff/fire depts., attorney, physician, dentist, personal trainer, lineman, financial advisor, biology, nurse, dept of fish & wildlife, vocational/technical positions, to name a few. We also offered a variety of colleges to interview.

In addition, CEF would like to thank the LMS teachers and staff. Lincoln Middle School staff played a big part in engaging students in pre and post class preparation. Filling out job applications, looking at earning potentials of assorted careers, comparing different occupations, requiring poster projects and reviewing professional dress codes were only a few ideas the teachers incorporated.

If you want to participate in next year’s Career Fair, please contact Pam at brobros2@cableone.net. Sponsoring this Career Fair is just one way the Clarkston Education Foundation is fulfilling its mission to enhance and promote education in Clarkston schools.
